You can now download a very comprehensive set of plans / instructions for the construction of a "Minimus" dry composting toilet from this website. The Minimus is a well proven, simple composting toilet that works on the principle of mouldering. Compost is easily removed from the rear of the toilet after 12 months of operation. It is cheap to build, easy to operate and can handle peak loads effectively. Look out for more free downloads in the coming months that will help with greywater treatment, maintenance tips and other compost toilet plans.

World Toilet Organization holds talks with Pooh Solutions

Tue, 02/10/2009 - 12:13 — Compost Stu

On the 5th of February Jack Sim, director of the World Toilet Organization and I held talks in Geelong, Victoria. I was quite inspired by Jacks story, one of business success folowed by a desire to make a difference to the world. The talks were informal, however, we have discussed the possibility of translating the plans for the minimus composting toilet into several languages and making them available as free down loads from this site. The english language version will soon be available as a free download.

Happy Pooh Year

Wed, 01/07/2009 - 13:04 — Compost Stu

Yet another annus passes in the history of Pooh and we're still smiling:) The new year has brought all the usual frustrations and motivations of an endless list of projects and work to complete, so I've hit the ground with a steaming hot mound and cancelled the planned trip to the desert. It's hot enough here any way. The garlic is out and the pumpkins are leaping out too, more evidence of the virtue of my urine fertigation system. I've harvested and sold my first crop of fingerlimes, tasty and tangy with essence of Stu and others somewhere deep in the flavour matrix.

Short story for the wee little ones

Mon, 12/01/2008 - 17:16 — Compost Stu

Once upon a toilet there lived a very, very small spider called Jake. He was so tiny that no-one knew he was there, hiding under the lid, where people would come and sit and make his house nice and warm. He loved people, especially the ones with big bottoms that warmed up his house the most. Early one morning, the big lady came and sat down. It was a cold morning so Jake was especially happy to see her. She warmed up his house beautifully. After she finished on the toilet, she lifted the seat and began cleaning. Poor Jake had never had this happen before.
